Reiner (the Malamute) and Ariat (the Akita/chow) were found by my daughter, Dani, through the SPCA. "Reiner and Ariat" is a textile post card of a gloriously windy day at a favourite lake. Through all the motion, our doggie-friends sit side-by-each, content as they are wont to be, a picture of mindfulness. They are still -- enjoying life, as only dogs can. This piece, begun when Dani was alive, has become an important heirloom for it is a celebration of her love and zest for Life.

The piece is based on a photograph that I took. The textile piece use fused appliqué, curved piecing, and free-motion quilting play a role in creating movement in the piece.
