How to be with whales? It is almost impossible. Scientists sight whales from shore, from boats, from drones. They listen to whales on hydrophones. They collect tissue samples, poop samples and try to interpret their squeaks and songs. They have studied them inside and out and still we know hardly anything. Sometimes, not knowing is OK. Sometimes just being alongside a being is enough.
