I have been thinking of the still life artist, Giorgio Morandi (Italy, 1890 - 1964). Morandi spent his life creating soft muted still life paintings of bottles and other small objects. I relate to Morandi because he continued this focussed intention through two world wars. I love Morandi's paintings and I wanted to soften and darken my palette. I recently introduced the use of a French curve into my line design. Seen vertically the shapes in this composition are bottle-y.
