Anjolene Rose

Anjolene Rose (she/her; Field Spectacles art) is a self-taught artist who paints with acrylics and watercolors, inspired by the phenomenal animals and landscapes she encounters. She was born and raised in the prairies and is grateful to now reside in the spectacular coastal forests on the unceded territories of the Lekwungen, Sc'ianew, and the W?SÁNE? Peoples. Inspired by a lifelong fascination and connection with nature, she has spent the past 15 years working in wildlife and nature conservation. Pursuing this path has allowed her to live across diverse ecosystems, and laid bare our inextricable interconnection with each other, other species, and our environment. The scientific lens couldn’t fully capture her visceral and emotional connection with nature, so Anjolene began exploring art to complement her research, and Field Spectacles art was born. When she isn’t painting, Anjolene enjoys playing music, writing, and spending as much time outdoors as possible with her dog, Nomad.

Statement

In my piece Nature's Muse, I seek to reveal the enchanting artistry of nature that unfolds in stillness and presence. Away from the noise and busyness of society, and immersed in the natural world around us, stillness allows us to notice the slow, subtle beauty and the interplay between our inner and outer landscapes. In this scene, the subject sits contentedly by a pond, as the sunlight and foliage cast an intricate shadow on her back, transforming the human form into both canvas and muse.
